I have to have damn near everything off to play CTD3 ( Fallout3).
So no vent, No Steam Friends, no Xfire, I disable my AV :|
I'll try it tonight with more on see if it fucks up
I think have fixed most of the crashing but it still pisses me off, I hated Oblivion but for some reason this is awesome.
I can play for 2-4 hours then CTD, then start it back up 5 minutes later CTD.

Most of it is just lowering your rez.
I have a shitty KDS 17" monitor, I can't play at that high of rez anyways, I default to  1152x864.
I'm stuck playing Fallout 3 @ 800x600 :|
It's still looks sweet, just rather large.

After playing L4D, everyone should get this.
Fast Zombies + 4 real people = FUN AS HELL.
